Program Overview

Who We Are

Philly Blast Lacrosse is a competitive club lacrosse program with middle and high school tournament level teams (grades 4 thru 11). We typically have one or two teams in each age group. Teams practice at Villanova University, Episcopal Academy, Academy of Notre Dame, and Main Line Sports Center.

Time Commitment Progression

In Blast, as players get older, the time commitment for both training and tournaments increases. In the summer, youth teams play 3 tournaments and attend approximately 10 practices. Rising freshmen attend 4 tournaments and attend 10-12 practices. Once players are in high school (rising sophomores thru rising seniors), teams are entered into more recruiting focused tournaments (5) and more practices are required (12). In the fall and offseason, youth and middle school plyers are encouraged, but not required, to attend clinics, training, and tournaments. Beginning fall of freshman year, high school players are required to attend 4-6 fall practices and compete at 3-5 recruiting tournaments. The fall is extremely important to the recruiting process and high school players who are selected for summer tournament teams are expected to attend all mandatory fall events.

Selection Process & Criteria

Tryouts are held in August each year. All players are reevaluated annually. Philly Blast’s membership invitations extend for one year of participation. Players are selected based on speed and athleticism, level of stickwork, game sense, and coachability.
